About AWENS Membership
Who can join AWENS?
An adult educator who is working, or plans to work, in workplace education and who supports the goals of lifelong learning and the delivery of essential skills programs.
AWENS offers three membership categories: Full Membership for those who have, or are currently delivering workplace education and training programs; Associate Membership for those who support the objectives of workplace education but have not yet delivered programs; and Corporate Membership for businesses who deliver workplace education.
What will membership offer you?
Full Membership Fee: $100 first year, $50 to renew
Associate Membership Fee: $65 annually
Corporate Membership Fee: $250 annually
Includes up to 4 instructors

How do I join?
Download our application form (Individual Membership Application or Corporate Membership Application) Send the completed application form via mail it to us at the address on the form.
There is a non-refundable application fee of $50. Please be advised that submission of your application and application fee does not automatically indicate that you are an accepted member of AWENS.
Please enclose the following with your application form and $50 application fee.
Full Member:
- 5 evaluation forms from participants who have attended training sessions you have delivered
- Copies of certificates to support your qualifications as an instructor or subject matter expert
- Your CV
- Contact information of 2 references (Corporation or Nonprofit Organizations where you have delivered training sessions)
Associate Member:
- A rationale explaining why you would like to become an AWENS member (Max 500 words)
- A copy of your CV
- Contact information of 1 Reference (Corporate or Nonprofit)
Next Steps
- Upon receipt of your AWENS membership application and $50 application fee, an AWENS representative will contact you to set up a meeting or conference call to review your application.
- Your application will then be forwarded to, and reviewed by, the membership committee.
- Following this meeting, a letter of validation based on the committee decision will be sent out to you.
If you are approved by the AWENS membership committee, you will receive a letter of acceptance in addition to an invoice for the annual membership fee.

AWENS Code of Ethics
- As a member of the Association of Workplace Educators of Nova Scotia, I support the Association’s mission to promote excellence in the field of workplace education with a vision of a strong professional network of partners supporting workplace education and skill development in Nova Scotia.
- As a workplace educator, I will undertake to maintain the highest standard of professional competence and professional and personal conduct and, further, I will undertake to:
- Respect the dignity and integrity of all individuals and ensure fair and equitable treatment in all aspects of workplace education
- In the course of my duties, endeavour to instill in the public a sense of confidence and trust with regard to the conduct and actions of AWENS and myself
- Refrain from any activity that may be––or may be perceived to be––a conflict of interest or that would prejudice my ability to conduct my duties and responsibilities in a professional manner
- Use information acquired in the course of my duties prudently and avoid using confidential information for personal gain or in any other way that would be detrimental to AWENS, its members, and its workplace education partners
- Foster professional growth in workplace education
